What is Lingustics?
Assalamu’alaikum, (^_^)/’
Hello my beloved readers, very long time
I didn’t greet you. Hopefully this will be a good day for you. This time, there
is a little that I want to share with you. What is that? Let's discuss..
As we know, humans are social creatures
and in their daily lives are inseparable from the interaction and communication
between one to another. Language is the main key to success or failure of the
communication process that occurs. This is because language is a good messenger
of intent to convey to the another person, because every language surely contain meaning.
Language is not only in the form of speech
or written. Language can also be understood from body language. Now I don't
want to invite you to discuss the types of language. But I want to share a
little insight that I know about the branch of science that focuses on
language, namely Linguistics. Lingustic is the study of language. Someone who
is an expert in this field is called Linguis or someone who is able to analyze
and understand various phenomena of language even though in reality the person
is not fluent in various languages.
The focus of Linguistics covers a variety of things,
including phonetics (study of the sound system of humans). Phonetics forms the
main pattern of language formation. Beyond phonetics there is phonology, which
is the sound pattern of language. Outside phonology there is syntax, which in
this case connects between sound patterns and meaning. Semantics (meaning) is
beyond syntax. Phonology, syntax, and semantics, are a series that is
inseparable in language. All three form grammar in language. The center of
grammar is in pragmatics which connects the use of language by the speaker and
the intention to be conveyed. In addition there are psycholinguistics (study of
language and mind), sociolinguistics (language and social environment), applied
linguistics, computer linguistics, stylistics, anthropological linguistics,
linguistic philosophy. It is quite complicated indeed to understand the exact
definition of Linguistics, because linguistics continues to develop following
the development of language patterns.
I think, while thats all from me, thanks for reading.
I hope my written can give you new information and see you next
time.
